The unit decides what the platform can see.

Every page of the platform is built from a handful of raw signals, and the device on the vehicle is where they come from. Fit less than a vehicle needs and a page goes blank for it. Fit more and you have paid SAR 690 for ports nobody plugs anything into.

8 signals, 4 devices

Read down a column for what a unit can produce. The bottom row counts the platform pages that run on it — the same requirements each page lists for itself, not a separate compatibility chart.

New signals: Engine bus, Fuel probe, Temperature, and Camera.

Starts working: AI dashcam, Incident centre, Maintenance, Fuel and energy, and Cold chain.

Gets better: Driver behaviour, Reports and alerts, and Saqr Intelligence.

There is no middle step on a heavy vehicle. Its diagnostic port speaks a different protocol from a van's, and the OBD unit does not speak it — so the jump is straight from Wired to Advanced.

A fleet is five questions, not one

Tick what each group needs and the unit, the kit and the fitting time follow from the signals those pages require. The example is a regional distributor; change the counts to yours.

Only 4 pages change the answer: AI dashcam, Maintenance, Fuel and energy, and Cold chain. Incident centre comes with AI dashcam. The other 8 — Live tracking, Routing and dispatch, Asset and trailer tracking, Driver behaviour, Inspections, Driver app, Reports and alerts, and Saqr Intelligence — run on any vehicle unit, so they are not on the list. Plans are per vehicle and can be mixed, which is why each group shows its own.

SQ-TAG

The one with no vehicle

Trailers, gensets and containers have no ignition to watch and no power to borrow. The tag is sealed around one cell, and the only real decision about it is how often it spends some of that cell to say where it is.

A Wired unit on an uncoupled trailer would be living on a backup cell sized for a power cut, not for a working life. The tag is SAR 340 once; fitting takes a minute, magnet or four bolts.

Reports Cell life
  • Once a day 10+ yrs
  • Every 6 hours 6.2 yrs
  • Every 3 hours 3.3 yrs
  • Every hour 1.1 yrs
Motion wake sits on top of whichever cadence you pick. The cell is covered for the whole warranty at up to 8 reports a day.

Fitted where the vehicles sleep

Fitting is in the price on every plan, and it happens at your yard on your night shift. We make two claims about it elsewhere on this site. Here is the arithmetic under both.

From the home page

240 mixers in 9 days

240 Wired units at 45 minutes, plus 10 minutes each for walking the yard and the paperwork, is 220 fitter-hours. Across 9 nights of 8 working hours that is 3.06 fitters' worth of work — so 4 on the rota, since nobody fits a fraction of a truck.

From the FAQ

200 vehicles inside two weeks

Worked as if every vehicle took a Wired unit: 183 fitter-hours over 12 nights (two weeks less the Fridays) is 1.91 fitters, so 2. Vans that take the OBD unit are fitted by their own drivers and come off the rota entirely.

52°C is the air. The unit is not in the air.

Every unit is soak-tested at 52°C, above the worst afternoon the Kingdom produces. But nothing is mounted in open shade. What matters is the peak where each unit actually lives, and the margin between that and the 85°C its parts are rated for.

The tightest is the asset tag, 6°C from its rating. Heat takes the soft parts first — adhesive, SIM holders, cells — which is why nothing here is held on with tape.

Keeping the units you already have

We read the common protocols on vehicles across the Kingdom, so a fleet can move over months instead of a weekend. What survives the move is uneven, and it is cheaper to know which part before the first invoice than after.

  • Position usually Every protocol we read carries a fix, a time and a speed. This part simply works.
  • Ignition usually If the previous fitter wired it. Some inferred it from movement instead, which shows in the first day of data.
  • Driver identity usually Comes from the driver app, not the box, so the old unit does not matter.
  • Accelerometer sometimes Most old units report harsh events, at their own thresholds. Their scores are kept in a separate league, not ranked against ours.
  • Engine bus sometimes Only if the old unit decoded it and forwards it. Fault codes survive more often than fuel level.
  • Temperature sometimes Readings come through. Which probe sits in which compartment has to be rebuilt by hand.
  • Fuel probe rarely The probe survives. Its calibration table usually does not, so budget a fill.
  • Camera never Video formats are closed, and we will not claim to read another maker's footage.

AI dashcam, Incident centre, and Fuel and energy.

A page carries over only as well as the weakest signal it needs. Send us the model numbers on your vehicles and we will put your fleet through this table before anyone signs anything.

Bought once, and yours

Devices are invoiced when they ship and never again. There is no lease and no hardware line hiding in the subscription.

If you leave, the units stay on your vehicles and we point them at whichever server you name. Your history leaves with you as well.

Where this lineup is weak

A tractor that only needs servicing pays for camera ports

The only unit that reads a heavy vehicle's bus is the Advanced, so Maintenance on a tractor costs SAR 690 more hardware than tracking it does. We do not make a heavy-bus unit without ports. The calculator above will keep recommending the expensive one, because it is the right answer to the question as asked.

Anything plugged in can be unplugged

The OBD unit is quick because it sits in a port, and a port is somewhere a knee, a mechanic or a driver can pull it from. It says when and where that happened. It cannot stop it. What we do about it.

A tag's years are a cadence you chose

Ask a tag to report every hour and its cell lasts 1.1 years, not ten. Motion wake is what lets it sleep most of the time and still catch a trailer leaving, but a schedule set too eagerly is still a schedule.

A design peak is not a promise about your yard

A dark trailer parked against a sunlit wall in August can beat the peak we design against. Past it, a unit shuts its radio down before the parts are at risk, which leaves a gap in the data rather than a dead unit, and a gap is still a gap.
